Who we are

As an account strategist with Piper & Gold Public Relations, Alyssa works on day-to-day account management. Her client work includes Capital Area Michigan Works!, Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan, Bradford Academy, Lansing SAVES and others, where she develops strategies and implements communications plans.

Previously, Alyssa worked at Finn Partners Detroit, a global PR firm providing creative storytelling for modern brands around the world. There, she learned a knack for PR while working on Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, in addition to helping launch Little Caesars Arena. She refined her digital media skills to create engaging social content, and honed in on media relations to secure coverage in both statewide and national trade publications.

While studying at Michigan State University, Alyssa served as president and vice president of recruitment for the MSU chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America, and completed internships at the Governor’s Executive Office, Michigan Fitness Foundation and MSU College of Music.

Alyssa received her bachelor’s degree in advertising from MSU, and specialized in public relations.

  • During her time at Finn Partners Detroit, Alyssa assisted in leading the BCBSM team to meet nearly 60 percent of their positive media coverage goal just six months into the year.
  • Alyssa helped manage the BCBSM team through crisis communications, keeping leadership informed about sentiment, tonality and coverage regarding sensitive topics.
  • While president of MSU PRSSA, Alyssa secured the chapter’s standing to win the Star Chapter award for the 2015-2016 school year.

Alyssa is passionate about helping others and making a difference—whether that be through volunteerism or a friendly smile. She considers herself a lifelong Michigander and is ‘Smitten with the Mitten.’ Alyssa’s favorite Michigan memories include listening to the waves crash onto the shores of Lake Huron, eating pasties while overlooking Marquette and walking along the banks of the Red Cedar River.

She loves exploring Yooper country, where her family owns a cabin, exercising to combat her love of ice cream and spending time with her family, friends and Oliver — her oh-so-very sassy cat.

Alyssa is a member of the Central Michigan Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, and is the co-chair for the New Professionals Committee. With her position, she helps create a network for young professionals to connect and grow in Lansing. She is eager to support more local organizations as she makes the move back to #LoveLansing.
